With WiFi and touch screen feature, it makes sense if the Samsung SH100 packaged as a stylish camera. The camera is very slim with a metal casing and a beautiful curve. The design is very minimalist, with only three buttons except the shutter button. This camera features a 5x zoom lens with focal lengths ranging from 26 meters. The range is very good focal length to cover various situations. Unfortunately, this lens is not equipped with vibration dampers.

Almost the entire operation of the camera is done using the touch screen so it is normal that the screen dominates the back of the camera. This touch screen is resistive type that can be operated with a stylus or a fingernail. This camera does not use SD Cards in general such a large camera, but uses a Micro-SD/SDHC.

In the sales package included strap and stylus. Also included are a USB charger and AV cable. Both of these cables are not using a generic USB port, but rather a proprietary port. This is of course inconvenient if you forget to bring a cable. Moreover, SH100 sales package does not include a separate charger.

This connection does not need a hotspot or another wireless router so it can be used outdoors.

Once connected, you can preview and review shots live. You can also adjust the zoom and change some camera settings. This feature can be useful if we like to travel and want to take the photos themselves. When we try, connectivity is maintained to within about 10 meters. However, the main purpose of course is to connect wifi to the internet. With this feature, you can upload photos and videos to popular websites or send them via email.

Because it has a touch screen, use the WiFi feature so it is very easy. Its use is no different from doing something similar to the tablet. In addition to feature WiFi, there are a lot of shooting and editing features offered SH100. Everything is presented with attractive appearance and mode of use is intuitive.

Image Quality

Shooting test we used our standard scene that showed high contrast and low contrast details. At even the lowest ISO, SH100 already showed a minimal level of detail. This is caused by the level of noise reduction is too high. At ISO 200, the images can be practically similar to ISO 80, but the sharpness dropped dramatically at ISO400. At ISO 800, sharpness is decreased further. ISO 1600 upwards can be practically unusable.

Conclusion

Samsung SH100 is a camera that is extraordinary. How to use and possesses features that make it very similar to some types of phones. WiFi feature that has not only fun, but also very rewarding. In fact, we have never been so impressed with features like a camera when we tried to SH100.

However, this does not mean the camera does not have flaws. We strongly deplore the absence of vibration dampers on this camera. We are also less satisfied with the level of noise generated.
